Nadine Hatchett's Story
“My dream was always to somehow be able to do a job which could incorporate animals, a job where I could help them in some way. Growing up, I always had a tendency to adopt the stray animals so that I could provide the love and care they did not experience before. While my dream was to work with animals, I also had a passion for helping people and since I didn’t know that Veterinary physiotherapy existed as a profession, I ended up studying and becoming an Occupational Therapist. When I worked overseas as an OT, I had a physio friend who was studying Veterinary Physiotherapy. This immediately sparked my interest and I started researching this field and knew that THIS WAS IT – with further training and by incorporating the skills and experience I learnt as an OT, I could finally follow my dream of working with animals. I completed my Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner’s training and started working at Animal Physical Rehab in July 2020. I love the team that I work with and that I get to be able to treat animals now – there is nothing more rewarding to see an animal get better and to see our work really help and make a difference in their and their owner’s lives.
When I come home from work, I can look forward to my own little fur babies greeting me at the door. With Moet and Savannah, my two cats, life at home is never boring – when they aren’t running around chasing and playing with each other, they will bring little insects or leaves as gifts or when needed they provide the best comfort. I could not imagine my home without an animal or two to share it with.”
