Marili Hamman's Story
I have studied Law at the University of Pretoria and worked in the corporate industry for a few years but always had a passion for working with animals and helping animals in need. I thought the only way to help animals was to become a veterinarian, I wasn’t aware that a different world such as animal physiotherapy and hydrotherapy existed. a Few years ago, I was referred and took my boy Toby for physio and underwater treadmill therapy and I fell in love, the difference you can make was very touching. After completing my hydrotherapy course with Greyfriars and gaining experience at a few rehab practices I was slowly starting to reach my goal.
One Saturday morning and after a quick phone call and meeting with Dawn I was given the opportunity to join this incredible team at Animal Physical Rehab. Working with friendly and hardworking people, amazing owners and their pets makes this my dream job. The satisfaction you get while helping animals with recovery is indescribable.
I am the proud mom of two beautiful Jack Russel “terrors” named Piper and Toby.
Piper is my first born, she is a tiny girl with the heart of a lion, a real trouble maker. She loves being outside chasing birds and annoying our neighbours. She goes by “Piperchino” and “Pippie lang kous”. Toby is our “fallen angel” as we adopted him from Fallen Angels Animal Rescue 6 years ago. He is a very sensitive but serious little man and does not like any loud noises or being outside much, only when we go for walks. He goes by “Tobelina” or “Tony”. They keep us very busy but I wouldn’t change it for the world. They mean everything to us and we cannot imagine our lives without them.
