Jessica Shore's Story
Jessica has been working for APR since 2022. She is currently in the process of completing her matric & hopes to go to Equine-Librium College to study Veterinary Physiotherapy when she graduates. For now, she is a regular assistant for us on a Monday & a Friday afternoon when Isaac leaves for the day. Like Isaac, she is responsible for ‘driving’ the UWT for the therapists & she assists with handling the dogs & cats during land-based exercises. She gives the patients plenty of ‘treat-motivation’ in the UWT & ensures that they get a good rub-down with the towel after afterwards. Jessica has also assisted with manual therapy treatment sessions, either by helping to handle patients or scribe treatment notes for the therapists when needed. She has proven herself to be a valuable member of the team.
I have always known that would be a big part of my life as I have grown up around all sorts of animals and have loved every moment with them. This is why I am so excited to be applying to Equine Librium College next year as it will give me the opportunity to enter into the field of work that I love most… Animal Physiotherapy.
Why do I love my job?
Every time I enter the rehab room, I am met with wagging tails and ear to ear smiles. Animals have such a joyous and bright energy to them that it makes it very difficult to have a bad day when working with them.
What do my animals mean to me?
Currently, I have 1 dog and 2 cats, but early in my childhood my house was filled with 3 dogs and 4 cats. My animals mean the absolute world to me and I simply cannot imagine my life without them. They bring me so much joy everyday and never fail to put a smile on my face.
